L&M Construction Chemicals: A New Chapter

Concrete Chemicals, Sealers, Grouts, Waterproofers - L&M Construction Chemicals

L&M Construction Chemicals, Inc. was founded in 1961 by Lawrence E. "Larry" Schwietz in Omaha, Nebraska. Larry had the courage, tenacity, strength, and, most importantly, the vision to see the company through its early years. The company, originally based in the Schwietz home, grew rapidly. In 1962, the first public L&M office was opened in the lower level of a multi-story tire warehouse/construction supply house in Omaha. Fifty years later, L&M has grown to fully utilize a number of packaging plants and warehouses, along with an international distribution system.

L&M has always realized the construction industry’s need for form release agents and to improve long term durability and appearance of concrete surface hardeners and densifiers. These unique product innovations include DEBOND form coating, DRESS & SEAL the first non-yellowing acrylic cure, sealer and dustproofer and CRYSTEX non-shrink grout. Other popular product innovations include SEAL HARD, QUARTZPLATE and EMERY aggregate hardeners and toppings, as well as salt resistant, water repellents such as AQUAPEL.

The company continues to live out Larry Schwietz's original vision and entrepreneurial spirit, but under the guidance of a new strategic corporate leader, LATICRETE International, Inc. Like Schwietz, Henry M. Rothberg, the founder of LATICRETE, was a trailblazing innovator in the ceramic tile and stone industry and concluded his career spanning nearly six decades as its Chairman Emeritus

To meet the challenges of today’s building industry, the two family owned businesses have come together in a move that strengthens both LATICRETE and L&M. Under the new ownership, the LATICRETE® L&M™ product portfolio will leverage the many resources and opportunities LATICRETE offers including: nationwide manufacturing facilities, an expanded team of sales representatives, global research and development capabilities, world-class marketing and technical services, access to global markets, an enhanced architectural presence, and access to a nationwide distribution system.

The L&M product brand name will reside under the LATICRETE corporate brand identity, with manufacturing and sales functions to be assumed by LATICRETE. The characteristics of quality, innovation, and integrity will continue for the L&M product line under the guidance of LATICRETE, as it continues to be a manufacturer of globally proven construction solutions for the building industry.
